A disposable inbox is suitable for ordinary confirmation messages. Identity documents, financial data, medical records, and long-term keys belong with a service that offers full account protection.
Access is not guaranteed after the address expires. For accounts involving purchase records, recurring subscriptions, or password recovery, use a long-term alias or your real email instead.
Do not use disposable email to bypass quantity limits, impersonate others, or receive illegal content. Privacy tools reduce unnecessary exposure; they do not help you avoid responsibility.

Most regular websites can deliver text verification codes, confirmation links, and notifications. Some high-risk industries actively block disposable domains as part of their security policy, and PostTmp cannot bypass that.
New addresses last 3 hours by default. You can extend them by 3 hours from the toolbar, up to a maximum lifetime of 24 hours. The countdown continuously shows the time remaining.
In the same browser, if the address has not expired and local data remains intact, refreshing the page will try to restore the current inbox. Closing a private window, clearing site data, or letting the address expire may make recovery impossible.
Disposable email is not intended for long-term attachment storage. For important files, download them promptly after confirming the source is trustworthy and keep them in your own secure storage; do not use a disposable inbox as cloud storage.
People often use the terms interchangeably. Disposable email is designed for short-term use and automatic expiry, while a secondary email account usually remains active long term. If you need ongoing delivery without exposing your real address, a forwarding alias is the better choice.
Use disposable email for low-trust or short-term situations, and create separate aliases for different purposes with long-term services. This makes it easier to identify which source exposed or abused your address and disable that identity alone.
